Beau Bennett seriously needs to consider investing in some bubble wrap. The New Jersey Devils forward was placed on IR yesterday retroactive to 1/20/2017 when he sustained a lower-body injury in a game against the Montréal Canadiens. This is his second time on IR this season, the first being from late November through early December with a leg injury.
Out of a total of 353 possible regular season games in his NHL career (294 with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2012 through 2016 and 49 this season with the Devils), he has played in a total of only 169 of them (129 for the Pens and 40 for the Devils).
He seems to keep a positive outlook about being able to play in the NHL despite his injury issues, but I wonder what the magic factor would be to keep him healthy and on the roster? Maybe this bubble wrap suit would help!
I'll be watching for updates, but for now I want a wish Beau a speedy recovery and encourage him to stay safe!
